The 2022 Shafer Hillside Select is a Cabernet Sauvignon made from vines on the steep estate Hillside blocks in Napa Valley's Stags Leap District. The Shafer winemakers allow the growing season and the characteristics of the vineyards to guide their selection for the final blend instead of adhering to a standard selection.
At Shafer, quality is more important than quantity, and Hillside Select is produced in small quantities to show the best of their estate fruit. Hillside Select is one of the most sought after and collectible Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa Valley, and for good reason. It has depth, balance, and aging potential.
The 2022 vintage exemplifies the elegance, concentration, and age-worthiness from the hillside vineyards. It continues the tradition of limited production and the focus of hillside stewardship. The result of this is a Cabernet Sauvignon which has the terroir from Stags Leap District, and structure and aging potential which is characteristic of Hillside Select.
